School Uniforms at Woodland Hills?

School uniforms might be coming to Woodland Hills if the school district makes revisions to their dress code policy. The change would be effective in the 2010-2011 school year. Discussions are still underway but a decision should be coming in the next few months.
A local private school, Woodland Hills Academy which opened in August, implemented school uniforms at opening. Positive responses from parents, PTO and students from the Academy sparked movement among the school district leaders to suggest such changes throughout the system.
Although uniforms purchased for the Academy cost on average between $150-200, district uniforms would only cost parents an average of $50 since pieces of the uniform could be purchased through online school uniform stores or local retail chains. Subsidies would be offered through the district to parents meeting federal poverty levels as well.
Proposed uniforms will include solid-colored polo shirts, with black dress or casual pants. Jumpers, capri pants, skirts, and skorts will be allowed by girls to wear. Boys will be required to belt their pants at the waist with solid brown or black belts.
Parents are welcomed to discuss the proposed dress code by visiting the online community forum and/or send letters to their school administration.
