Khakis, Polos New Uniforms for 2 Des Moines High Schools

It’s a growing trend amid the recession that more and more schools are moving to school uniforms to save parents huge amounts of money and to improve student performance.

The uniforms have shown to increase standardized test scores, and the sheer fact of removing normal clothes from the school reduces conflict and makes the environment completely focused on learning and education and not a not a soapbox for expressing your beliefs.

The schools in Des Moines have seen an early mixed reaction from the school uniforms, and the students will be issued three shirts directly from the school. Families will be required to buy khaki pants, shorts or skirts along with any additional shirts in navy blue or dark purple.

Officials at the school believe the cost of the uniforms will only be $33,000 for the upfront cost for the schools.
